A question for you experienced writer

I’ve got a question for you experienced writer out there.  Do you feel good when you delete a five or six (or more) paragraph section during an edit?  Because I don’t.  It was there for a reason.  And, of course, it was brilliant.

  1. Never feels good. I often create a deleted scene file for my wips so those longer sections can go live there in case I want to put them back in. 🙂 But sometimes I do feel mature deleting a great few sentences.

  2. K.L. Gore

Being that I usually delete/change at least 60,000 words in every manuscript I write, I’m kinda used to it by now. But sometimes sentences I LOVE have to go, and that sucks. But as every writer worth his or her ink knows, sometimes sentences have to be obliterated for the greater good.
